One of the Most Realistic Car Chases Ever
Car chase scenes can be pure fantasy (Fast & Furious), super-human (Bourne), or down-and-dirty (Bullitt, French Connection). The third style has always been my favorite. This film has a car chase set in Tangier that is brilliant for three reasons: it's as messy as a real car chase would be, the camera angle is often from the passenger seat which heightens the action, and the reason the heroine gets away is not because of her fancy driving but because she takes a chance and speeds past a truck which proceeds to T-bone her pursuers.
As far as action thrillers go, it's good but not great. Strong performances by Blake Lively, Jude Law, and Sterling Brown.
Kudos to the makeup department for making the luminous Mrs. Lively look very nondescript.
Food in Films: When it comes to assassin training, smashing someone's face into a bowl of porridge when they least expect it just doesn't seem fair.
