Tarantino's most dirty old man movie.

I could almost hear his heavy breathing during some shots. And I'm not talking just about his infamous feet shots. Like some involving Margaret Qualley.

I'm know most people don't care about things like the male gaze but you must have noticed it, did you?

reply

QTs foot fetish scenes in previous movies were ok because he was younger?

Would it have been ok if it was a 50 year old women's feet?

reply

I said I'm not only talking about his feet fetish, can't you fucking read?

reply

Culture war troll...to hell with you

reply

It makes me wonder the age of the OP. I’m not up on the term male gaze but it would seem that it’s seen in countless movies. I don’t get it.

reply

I question the age of the people upset I bring this up.

Since you are not familiar with the term male gaze, educate yourself: Google "once upon a time in Hollywood male" and see what's the first suggestion.

reply

Wikipedia:

In feminist theory, the male gaze is the act of depicting women and the world, in the visual arts[1] and in literature,[2] from a masculine, heterosexual perspective that presents and represents women as sexual objects for the pleasure of the male viewer.

reply

Then you would expect to define 'female gaze' as a feminine perspective that presents men as sexual objects (from the point of view of female sexuality, which is aroused by elements like power or status) for the pleasure of female viewer.

That kind of 'female gaze' would be extremely obvious, for example, in romance novels.

But nope, according to feminist theory, from wikipedia, "the female gaze has been used to refer to the perspective a female filmmaker (screenwriter/director/producer) brings to a film that would be different from a male view of the subject.".

And then they wonder why feminism is considered a pile of bullshit.

reply

Bingo. ☝️

reply

Not trolling. You just can't accept people are critical of things you love.

reply

I'm know most people don't care about things like the male gaze

Only mentally ill people do care about such retarded made-up concepts and that's why only they "noticed" it.

reply

If it wasn't for that 'gaze' we would not be here to respond to a post about the gaze.

reply

Of course right wingers who complain about SJW feminists ruining Star Wars, Charlie's Angel and Batwoman don't care about such things. Silly me.

reply

You don't get it, do you? It has nothing to do with these little political circus games you have in your head. It's really a matter of mental instability when someone is to such a degree disturbed by the fact that males look at sexy women in a sexual way. And making up such a stupid term to describe it? Come on. I'm definitely more lefty than right wing and have lefty friends, but nobody I know cares about such non-issues. Maybe it's an american thing, idk.

reply

Boys will be boys, right?

reply

No, we'll cut off their balls and make them asexual because that's really the only way to fix your so called problem.

reply

Now that's the right wing, MRA, incel talk I was talking about. Thank you for proving my point.

reply

For sake of your own mental health, I sincerely hope you're just trolling.

reply

Trolling is for the dim-witted.

reply

Indeed

reply

oh it makes sense now. You're a leftist. Leftists have no morals and have to lie about and virtue signal everything.

reply

Unlike Christian conservatives.

Obey dear leader.

reply

Yes. Unlike Christian conservatives.

reply

I think the shots he picked suited the film and told the story. Maybe he personally got off on them and maybe he didn't, but either way, he shot the film in such a way that it told its story.

reply

Tarantino’s films pay homage to the exploitation films of the past. I don’t see a problem with the content in any of his films. Do they offend you in some way?

reply

Yes, I'm very offended by it. I got triggered watching it. Is that what you wanted to hear?

reply

No.. I’m wondering why your commenting on a film you don’t like about themes represented within it that are in countless other films.

reply

My bad for commenting about a movie after I actually saw it. Shoulda just review-bombed it like everyone else does these days.

reply

It’s ok. Just remember for next time.

reply

Try a non-sarcastic response (not sarcasm).

reply

It's the way to deal with idiots saying moronic things like "why did you watch a movie you didn't like?" 🙃

reply

Fair enough.

reply

Oh, I know! What a dirty old man, liking attractive women and everything. And what about that disgusting, creepy female gaze that the hippie chick kept giving Cliff (Pitt) every time he pulled to a stop in traffic? I could almost hear her heavy breathing as her eyes filled with dollar signs, imagining her way out the impoverished hippie life. I know most people don't care about things like the female gaze, but thank God people like you and I do.

"Evil gazes" surround this little motion picture. You just have to be willing look hard enough, right?

reply

That "creepy female gaze" came from the imagination of a man. Just like the scene where she offers to give him a blowjob.

It's funny how you tried to make a point with your whataboutism but failed miserably.

reply

I just know it happened to QT in real life though. I could just FEEL it through the screen. I just know that came from an experience in real life, where an evil woman gave him the evil female gaze. You know? People like you and I, we just have a sense for things without there having to be anything actually there. On the surface, that is, but we know how to find it, don't we? I could just feel her intentions, and I felt so violated. It's as if I, myself, were the one assaulted. Poor Quentin.

reply

I got the biggest urge to check Margaret Qualley's "other work" for...uhmm..."research purposes". She's hella cute.

reply

Careful. Someone might read this and "hear your heavy breathing". Uh-oh.

*Side note - I, too, am a "dirty old man" that fully agrees with you.

reply

You mean like those shots that frame her behind while she's bent over talking with Brad Pitt inside a car?
Or the one where crawls into his crotch with the camera panning from above, amirite?
All the dialogue definitely got muffled in those scenes, it was hella distracting. LOL.

reply

I would say he wasn't aware of that.
