Dr. Manhattan (Spoilers!)

I saw bits and pieces of the first season. For those of you who have not seen the entire first season, I do not want to spoil anything, but I must voice my disappointment about a particular event that happens, I guess near the end of the season.

(SPOILERS Beyond THIS POINT)

Namely, the death of Dr Manhattan! I thought he was indestructible. I know in the movie and in the book, Veidt managed to trap him in the particle machine, and apparently destroyed him, but he reformed shorty afterwards, so what's the deal with him getting fried in the show?

reply

There is nothing that says he can't put himself back together again, that was the first trick he learned in the comics.

reply

True...true, but it seemed that he knew it was going to happen, as he can see the future. I realize after reading the graphic novel and seeing the film, that he knows events will happen but cannot do anything to change them. But, it seems to me that it shouldn't have been able to happen. And now I hear that the series was cancelled, so we will never know if he returns.

reply

Maybe he just wanted to die

reply

This. He could have easily prevented what happened, basically because he can foresee the future. He chose not to, following instead the chain of events that led to his death.

reply

I guess because the Kavalry and Trieu were both trying to steal his powers. I was glad but a little surprised that Angela didn't somehow get his powers when both the Kavalry's guy and Trieu got killed trying to get the power. It's still implied in the last episode that he left her an egg with his power inside of it.

reply

The episode finishes just when the viewer would’ve found out if Angela could walk on water. That was left ambiguous on purpose. We don’t really know if the egg actually has powers or simply it didn’t break by chance and was a standard egg

reply

He wasnt convicted for the murder and says he didnt do it.
