"Stranger Things" Rip-off?
So we heard over a year ago that Prime Video was going to start making more elaborate and expensive original productions. Instead of smaller niche fare like "One Mississippi" or "Transparent" they instead would start creating material like HBO's "Game of Thrones." I suppose "Hanna" is one of the first of this "new and improved" content decisions, and it looks exactly like a "Stranger Things" ripoff if that show dealt only with the character of Eleven. Regardless of how well "Hanna" turns out to be, I am fearful Prime Video will mimic Netflix's business model in more ways than one, and start focusing so much of its resources on its original content that it stops trying to obtain decent movies new and old. For those who don't give a damn about almost all their original content, Netflix has become virtually unwatchable for movie lovers. It would be sad if Prime Video followed their lead. I am already noticing they don't seem to be adding as many good films to their library as they used to just a few months ago.
