America was war profiteers who got rich off dead Europeans

Title ways it all. ww1 was the same but to a lesser extent. Not only did the government make money through loans during and afterwards, its corporations actively helped the Nazis like Dupont and IBM.

FORGOT TO MENTION HOW THE BIG BAD MONEY MONSTER BAILED EUROPE OUT WHEN THEY GOT INVOLVED IN THE WAR.

while the usa sat back and refused to do anything.. if you let a small fire keep burning beside a house. while having more then enough water to put it out. But you let it get bigger and bigger and still stand there then sell the owners some water so they can try and manage the fire. then only once the fire gets too close to your house, you step in once their house has completely burned down then lend them money at a cost to build a new house.

Are you really the hero? is that your arguement?

reply

ME? NO...MY GRANDFATHER WHO WAS A POW FOR 2 YEARS AND HIS BROTHERS IN ARMS...THEY WERE THE HEROES...AND DESPITE WHAT THE EXACT REASONS WERE FOR OUR INVOLVEMENT,WITHOUT THE U.S.A AND AMERICAN SOLDIERS LIKE MY GRANDFATHER...EUROPE WOULD HAVE BEEN SWASTIKA-LAND.

reply

You want to have a stolen valour competition? my entire family is from England. I GUARANTEE YOU I have more family who fight and died than yours in WW2.

Yes your family fought bravely and probably died. more than should have. because the US government and corporations wanted to keep profiting for as long as they could without getting directly involved. Not sure what your point is.. yes I want us involvement in ww2... are you confused?

You do realize writing in all caps makes you look mentally unstable right?

Could make the argument that WWII may not even have happened if the United States didn't get involved in WWI. U.S. involvement in the Great War led to a decisive allied advantage that led to the Treaty of Versailles, which was so punitive towards Germany, that they almost had to fight a second war just to get out from under that yoke. If the U.S. didn't get involved, then the sluggish nature of trench warfare would have led to an eventual "draw" and eventual peace, but with much more favorable terms for Germany that allows them to prosper after the war and some crazy mustachoied guy never comes to power and the early 1940s are relatively peaceful.

So no, the U.S. shouldn't have gotten involved earlier. They shouldn't have gotten involved AT ALL. The British and French shouldn't expect Americans to drop what they are doing and travel 3500 miles to bail them out every time they fail to prepare for a war they know is coming. Even to this day, they still depend on Americans whenever military force is needed around the world, and this needs to stop.

I don't agree with those of my compatriots who claim "we saved your asses!" to Brits. Really, it was the other way around. Britain saved our asses by staying in the fight & acting as a key linchpin for a combined strategy that eventually defeated the Axis. No doubt.

But I also reject utterly the, mostly British, criticism of US conduct prior to Dec '41. "We came in too late!" Yes, Americans were mistaken to believe we should stay out of the war, but it was a case of being wrong for all the right reasons. After all, we had finally intervened in the first war, to what effect? Although our losses were far smaller than those of the primary combatants, they still led to what? Another war? Doubtless you're aware of Churchill's alleged statement in '36 that the US should have stayed out of the Great War because by the end of '16 the powers had begun to realize that a military victory was impossible & that some face-saving peace was the only way out. Imagine had that taken place: no Nazism, likely no Bolshevik revolution. A stable Europe.

The rest: profiteering? How else are the tools of war & supplies to sustain the population provided? Great Britain ceased payments on war loans in the mid-thirties. Congress, recognizing that the preservation of war debt to the Allies was one of the principle reasons the US entered the Great War (an Allied collapse would have bankrupted the US), put strict limits on how far the President could support a foreign power. It was supposed to be all cash & carry. Which left FDR to find creative ways to support Britain, such as Lend Lease & the destroyer transfer. It might have seemed cold-blooded when Britain was fighting for her existence, but it was the law, enacted for understandable reasons.

Finally, of course US corporations did business with Nazi Germany prior to the war. Why not? Are you certain no British company did as well? People had mixed feelings about the Nazis, given how Germany had suffered economically before Hitler.

That is a sort of true but way cynical view of it. Less so in the Pacific than it was in Europe. The problem is that the US had so many elite 0.01%'ers that were themselves fascists. Ford, Du Pont, J.P. Morgan, the Bushes, a lot of the "owners" of America, and since then not much has changed in fact due to the ubiquity of predatory transactional capitalism it is worse since there is no escape.

reply

OP is a moron. Nothing more need be said.

reply

Yeah, like Canada was going to stop Hitler and the Japanese Empire.

reply

I suppose you want me to give you reparations or something???

reply

Then the US stole Nazi technology and profited further, leaving Europe to rebuild on it's own.
