Meh
I loved the show but this was just a longer episode set in San Fran, not bad but didn't need the title of 'movie' associated with it.
Fun if you're a PsychO though π

It might have been set in San Fran, but that Canadian weather might as well be a character itself lol. I really think it was snowing in one of the scenes. Anyway, it was fun, I think they managed to re-capture the spirit of the show four years after it ended.
I agree though, not much of a "movie", but I didn't expect it to be. I don't think the target audience was random people, this was for the fans of the show. So on that front, I liked one more hour and a half with the gand solving crimes in a nutty fashion.
It was snowing outside a window in one scene, I noticed it myself and thought they might refer to it as a talking point. They didn't of course.
Loads of fun Mina and I'm not against it, it's a great place for fans to get a little boost of magic when needed.
Have they ever made a joke about the, what I assume is, uncharacteristic weather for California? In at least half the outside shots they're being rained on, and they always act like they're not. I can't say I don't find that amusing though.
shareThe show is meant to be shot in Santa Barbara, California and whilst my knowledge of CA isn't the tightest I'm fairly certain that the coast there is mostly always warm and settled. Quite different to that of British Colombia!
The show's had plenty of meta jokes over the years but I don't think they've ever quite gone the full Stargate SG-1/X-Files nod to the fact that it's Vancouver but that snow outside the window (Of San Francisco too!) would have been the perfect time to do so.
I still love it and it wouldn't go against them to make a joke at their own shooting expense.
Even Lucifer had one of its characters leave LA to go to Vancouver for a man-hunting mission (It's mostly shot in BC too).
I loved it as well, however they were thrown a huge curveball when Timothy Omundson (Lassiter) had a stroke and they had to rewrite the whole thing as it seems it was well under way to go a different direction at that point:

Creator Steve Franks told Entertainment Weekly that he has a six-movie plan for Psych, and if the second one gets picked up, it's going to heavily feature Lassiter. It would also have some scenes originally written for the first movie that had to be taken out after Omundson's stroke.
βThereβs some great, great stuff that took place in Santa Barbara, and movie two is certainly going to utilize some of those bits. The entire scenes, word-for-word, will be in the second movie,β Franks told EW. βThe idea is that the second one would be the one that we would do to fully have everybody back together in the same room at the same time.β
The cast echoes the desire to have Omundson back for movie number two during my interviews with them at New York Comic Con. Kirsten Nelson, who plays Karen Vick, says, "I think the second movie is going to be about Lassiter. I think it has to be. It's this really, super crummy situation that we will use to our advantage. You have to see him. ... I think the fans, I think the cast needs to see him be a part of that onscreen family again. ... We need to do a second one if only to have Lassiter's story be told in a really big way."
Yea the plot was a let down. The chemistry between the cast is still there and the comedy bits still work.I enjoyed that stuff. But the plot just felt like any common episode of the tv show.
