As a movie, is it any good?
With this being Paul Verhoeven's latest work, with him being 83 years old and all, how good is it, thanks.
Also, compared to say "Black Book" (2006) or "Elle" (2016), where does this lie, thanks.

i also liked "black book" and "elle", but i find "benedetta" is his strongest film since "total recall" and one of the best films of 2021.
religious people might might find it offensive though.
It's very good. Screenplay and acting are excellent.
shareIt's not one of his best films, but it has its moments. It's very sexy at times, and I really enjoyed the last third, but the first two thirds are very hit and miss. It could have used some better writing, but it's certainly unique and not something you've likely ever seen before.
shareI'm a big fan of Paul but there's a B-movie quality to this.
shareI liked it. I think it was better than Black Book or Elle. It reminded me a bit of his earlier work Flesh+ Blood. I loved that he came back into medieval drama which is his strong suit and not holding back on sex and violence. It’s like our old Paul is back. I noticed one of Paul’s trademarks. There was a bit of s&m when one of the nun was blindfolded. He did that before in Starship Troopers.
If you liked this movie, you might like another good old nun film -Love Letters Of A Portuguese Nun.
I thought it was excellent. Very glad he put out another movie, and I was able to see it.
shareYes, it is good, although not as good as Elle. The film looks great, although it's a little too long. It has some fantastic moments and good performances. 8/10 is my rating.
