The action scenes

Most of the action scenes in this film were just not plausible. Too unrealistic. At least in the Fast and Furious films, the actions scenes for the most part were plausible and realistic. The lone exception was in the 7th film when they jumped building to building in that super car in Dubai

FF 8 was more implausible than even 7. This entire franchise has been getting cartoonier since Dwayne Johnson joined the cast.

reply

Nah, FF 8 is based on a true story and the events depicted in the film actually did happen

You Know...This could be Just Me

But I've been incredibly Let down by David Leitch's action scenes in his 2 latest his movies.

He Co-Directed John Wick(which is my all time favorite action movie)

When it was announced he was directing Deadpool 2 I was pretty excited because I was expecting top notch action sequences, and I must say, DP2 was a let down overall, but Man The action sequences werent even as good as DP1...

Then we get Hobbs and Shaw, The Movie overall didnt really work for me(and believe me Im not hard to please, I enjoy the first 4 Transformers movies) but again, The action sequences in Hobbs and Shaw just werent good.

I now think I understand why at least Im not impressed With Leitchs action sequences...

and It comes down to, Hes not doing what hes GREAT AT...

In both John Wick and Atomic Blonde, The action sequences are Long Takes with complex choreography and arent filmed on Green Screens With Massive CGI...

Bottom Line, I just dont think David Leitch Is Good With BIG Budget,CGI,Special effects action sequences...

He comes from a Stunt Studio he and Chad Stahelski opened that worked coordinating action sequences....

IMO This why He succeeded so greatly with John Wick and Atomic Blonde....

anyways that my 2 cents....I was incredibly disappointed with BOTH DP2 and Hobbs and Shaw, and after giving it some thought, I just dont think Hes cut out for BIG Budget,CGI,Special effects action sequences...

Yeah. I'm not a fan of the franchise any longer. They went nuts with it. It's just a cartoon now. And FF7 is definitely the jump shark point for me. I don't enjoy it much and i've only watched it a few times. My Fast n Furious marathons usually wrap up at 6.

I don't mind the outlandish over the top plots and the fact they're a globe trotting mission impossible team now. Whatever, it's the movies. But unlike Mission Impossible, the stunts and action sequences are not executed in a believable manner. It's goofy. It's kid's stuff. I can't buy into the universe presented to me. The latest films don't just waste my time and annoy me, they cripple my love of the early ones. So I avoid them.

Actually the 6th film has that scene near the end where Dom jumps out of a speeding car and catches Letty, while flying over the bridge only to land a cars windshield. That scene was nuts

reply

I'll buy it. But that's the absolute limit of my believablity. It's also an incredibly emotionally charged scene with great heroic flourish. And the climax of all the events. You can write it off as a miracle, an act of God, the power of love. It plays. For me, anyhow.

What about the 30 mile runway depicted in the film?

Moderator! This guy's trying to make me hate my favorite movies! heh.... I ain't gonna lie. That long scene really bugs me. You start to notice after a while, even if you're not looking for it. Lot of dumb crap in that whole thing. I guess because for me, i've come to see it as the end of the saga, I just ignore it.

When I watched the trailer for "F9" and saw the part where Dom and Letty drive off a cliff, the car somehow catching a rope with its tyre, and then swinging across the ocean like Tarzan blood shot out of my eyes. I just can't cope with this franchise anymore.
