One of the worst Comedy sequels ever?
"Lemon Popsicle" had some of the worst sequels of all time. It's not worse than any one of them.
shareThese are mine in order, due to how outrageously good the first ones were:
Dumb and Dumber To
Caddyshack 2
Blues Brother 2000
Zoolander 2
Coming 2 America was pretty terrible but I think these are 100x worse.
Dumb and Dumberer was way worse than Dumb and Dumber To.
Never saw any of the others besides Zoolander 2.
Dumb and Dumber is my favorite comedy of all time, and I intentionally didn't watch Dumber and Dumberer because I thought it was a cash grab with none of the talent. I'll trust your opinion on that one.
I'll admit I only saw about 1/3 of Zoolander 2 before turning it off. I didn't laugh - check that - I didn't even smirk once. Frankly, I was frustrated they even thought that was worth producing. I'm sure it bought Ben and Owen some nice houses though...
Blues Brothers 2000 was fun!

I mentioned Airplane II as perhaps the worst sequel of all time, but I forgot about Caddyshack 2. The stench is great with that one.
Most sequels are terrible. It was a running theme before every movie was a series, remake, sequel or prequel.
As a Horror Fan, I've see far worse sequels. Just look at Charles Band, Roger Corman, or Loyd Kaufman. They meant their movie sequels to be funny and most are embarrassing.
Most people dislike sequels before the sequel is even given a chance. I'm not saying sequels are better than the originals nor equal most times.
When people see an original movie they generally have little expectations to go off from, but after the first movie, people automatically get expectations on that movie and any to follow.
Sequels aren't generally viewed for what they are by themselves. They are viewed compared to an original idea or expectation. It's hard to do, but I try to not have any expectations to any sequel I watch.
Coming 2 America by itself, even if it was an original, is a god awful movie. Just utterly awful. Adding in that it's a sequel to a pretty decent original movie makes me scratch my head on "what the F were they thinking". I'll never watch this again and I'll tell people how bad it is.
I guess my wife was fortunate. She a d I are not fans of the original due to overexposure. It was a regular viewing on HBO in the 80's and 90's. In 2000, Comedy central seemed to show it daily. So we got sick of it. Expectations for a sequel couldn't be lower after that.
I refused to see it because I didn't care. My wife said it was forgettable. Too bad too. I love Eddie Murphy and a good theatrical hit could bring him to a new generation. Oh well , this wasn't it.
