Perfect Trilogy

There aren't many great movie trilogies (I suppose Indiana Jones would have been one, if they ended with The Last Crusade, and BTTF is pretty damn good, although the second and third films come nowhere close to the 5 star brilliance of the original), but Guardians of the Galaxy is up there as the one MCU sub-franchise that is, for me, consistently brilliant across *ALL* three films.

The Thor films, Iron Man films, Captain America films, Ant-Man films, and Avengers films are all very hit and miss (although Black Panther is on steady ground after two movies, and all three Spider-Man movies are great but still nowhere near on par with the emotional heft and sheer joy provided by the three GOTG films).

Yes, the Christmas Special was utterly awful (my apologies to Kevin Bacon; it wasn't his fault!), but I'm not counting that, and maybe its awfulness was a homage to another great sci-fi trilogy with a similarly awful Holiday Special: Star Wars Episodes IV to VI (yes, I even like Return of the Jedi dammit!)

Guardians, Planet of the Apes and Star Wars (original trilogy) are the best trilogies in my opinion. Indiana Jones has a great first and last film but Temple of Doom lets it down a bit.
