I watched this movie today and really enjoyed it. I thought the casting choices were all great and the story was very easy to sit through and worth it.

Yea it was pretty good.

Oddly, this makes me want to see it.

I thought it was a really good movie.

I'm Black & from what would be called "Urban America", but I could still relate to it.

Drug addict parents, who ruin your plans, fear of having where you're from define you, being ashamed of your dysfunctional family are all things that have happened to me in my life at times.

I think a lot of what we're seeing is that a lot of "woke" White liberal types are just trying too hard to seem "progressive" by dumping on anything that might portray working-class Whites as sympathetic figures. It's like they think that if they dump all over lower-class Whites we'll give them a pat on the head or something. It's more embarrassing than anything else.

This story is universal and could've been made about my majority Black town.

Jobs leaving
despair & hopeless
Drug addiction and alcoholism

The movie tackles all of it and what was even more shocking to me was how great the casting choices were. At the end of the movie we see videos and pictures of the real people being portrayed in the movie and man, the actors look either exactly like the people in real life or were made up to really portray them. The casting director deserves an Oscar.

Yes, and the press also never heard of Hunter Biden.

Watch Junebug instead

I just watched it tonight. It wasn't horrendous at all and definitely not Howards' worst film.

Nah, disagree. I saw it the other day. It was ok. I thought Amy Adams did some real nice work. She had to display some range to play the character she played. Glenn Close was right on the money as usual. Decent story. You know, it was ok. So, I disagree with the critics. Ron Howard, to me, has been up and down. "Parenthood" made me cringe 30 years ago - it still makes me cringe to this day. "Ransom" was terrific. "In the Heart of the Sea" was lousy. "Hillbilly Elegy" was ok - like I said, he's up and down.
