Just seen Tenet and was massively disappointed... I was expecting at least 4-5 BIG memorable action set pieces... I think Nolan is past his best now... he has become a gimmick and a franchise... you kinda know what to expect from him... his last great film was Interstellar... after that its gone downhill

Saw it as well and I couldn’t agree more and I’m a Nolan fan.
I don’t think he’s done a bad movie so far in his career but Tenet is his first misfire.
Honestly seems like Nolan had a half baked idea and decided to just make a bland action thriller around that idea.
Interstellar is a masterpiece, I have it on 4k and its still a joy to watch.
shareIf you were expecting memorable action set pieces... it's kind of understandable that you're disappointed. Nolan never has directed memorable action set pieces. He often includes action and he directs it well enough, but he's not an action director.
If you want memorable action set pieces, check Paul Greengrass or James Cameron.
His fight scenes in Batman Begins were woeful - shaky cam to disguise poor choreography, but by the time he was filming Bane vs Batman he was much better. But you’re right, he’s not a natural action director and is far too impressionistic in his instincts, good action needs clear geography, long takes and good choreography.
