I hate the orange and teal look

I mean, what about the blue tint of Terminator 2 or green tint of The Matrix? At least those will make the movie stand out from the rest. Stylisized color grading is fine, but teal and orange is so standard now. Every movie is teal and orange. I hate it.

reply

In Terminator 2 only the night scenes are tinted unusually blue. In the rest of the scenes colors are close to natural.

Doesn't matter. At least it was not orange and teal. Not that I hate particularly orange and teal, just that every single frickin' movie is now orange and teal. Try something new! It's Nolan ffs!

I have a suggestion. 1950s three-strip Technicolor look.

Since digital video can be manipulated any way possible, why not make it look like film.

Film look from digital camera demo.

Well, that would have been brilliant.

I haven't seen Technicolor prints projected on screen, but for example the bluray of This Island Earth (1955) looks great. Because the colors are "printed" on the film every frame looks more like a postcard than a photograph. Wonderful.

Check Chinese movie, they mostly use green+red look.

Honestly, I don't pay attention to that unless it something really obvious. I actually like this movie, but Die Hard 4.0 was the most apparent example I can think of.

reply

It's very obvious here too from what I saw in the trailer. Even the movie poster is orange and teal.
