It should've been shorter, but it was an excellent script, with superb direction and performances.
The movie's idea is okay. Interesting, even. The characters are all right. But the script was bad.
Take a look at Billy Lee's many speeches for example, they were laughably bad. The regular pastor's sermon at my church is more convincing. This Billy guy was just rambling random incoherent nonsense. He was not convincing. He was not menacing. And he talked to much. The script was bad. The pacing was bad.
Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I just don't happen to share it.
But since I feel the film's biggest fault was its length, perhaps cutting down on the
speeches would've greatly trimmed the running time.
I saw it once, six months ago. Maybe I'll give it another run and see if my thoughts
still hold up.
I agree. Interesting and original story with some solid acting.
