Thanks for this. Looks like it might finally happen. I really enjoyed Tron: Legacy (especially in 3D), and love the soundtrack.

Yeah but it's Jared Leto...
I definitely want another Tron movie but I feel like he'll bring it down. His recent movies haven't been that 'promising'.
He has his own cult now too. Really weird
shareSome of that carries over from 30 Seconds To Mars, I think. Although I like several of their songs, I remember watching one of their music videos after they'd taken a bit of a hiatus--this was quite some time back, maybe 10 or more years ago--and there were already rabid fans making comments that seemed quite cultish, like he'd abandoned them for a few years between albums or something, and him putting out more songs was the return of their messiah. It was definitely weird.

I feel like it's more of, it's been considered cool to bash Jared Leto these last few years.
He's been in a bunch of poor movies, and the bs hype with suicide squad didn't help things.
It's like moviegoers suddenly forgot about Requiem or Dallas Buyers Club.
True. That is a bit concerning. Although I think a couple of those failures can't be entirely put on him, he doesn't always seem to exude a lot of convincing charisma on screen, so hopefully they don't center the entire story around him and there's at least some kind of assemble cast (although I quite liked Mr. Nobody, it's not particularly because of him).
An example of this is The Outsider. I love Japanese-centered Yakuza/Ninja flicks going back to Canon's stupid offers like American Ninja, or better products like The Challenge with Scott Glen, The Yakuza with Robert Mitchum, Black Rain, etc. The Outsider hearkened back to those, but it felt boring despite some explosive moments, and I think Leto's performance was partly to blame for that. A stronger personality could have made up for the sluggish pace. I do like understated performances, but he's bland.
My preference for Tron 3 would be for the story started with Garrett Hedlund's and Olivia Wilde's characters to be continued. I hope they at least touch on something there during the next one (if it actually comes to fruition--it's still quite early in the process). Tron: Legacy tees up a continued story that begs for more. I suspect that's not going to happen, though.
At the very least, they better damn well bring back Daft Punk for the soundtrack, if anything.
