None of the kids felt like 90's kids

They all felt like 2021 kids in a 90's setting, i kept waiting for one of them to pull an iphone out, just none of them behaved or talked like 90's kids, they all acted like modern teens you see in modern shows and movies you see today.

Like the kids in Stranger Things i feel like those are kids from the 80's, i believe them, the kids in this movie just felt so 2021 modern kids plopped down into a decade without iphones.

And even the setting didn't feel very 90's, other than the old 90's computers i still felt like i was in 2021 with 90's songs being used. I just felt they could've done a way better job making us feel like we was watching something from the 90's, like how House Of The Devil made us feel like we was watching something from the 70's.

Agreed. It's one of the things that makes this a bit of a tough watch.

reply

Agreed. Watching it now and it doesn't feel 90s at all. Not even putting 90s music every 5 minutes helped with that.

reply

I agree. I was excited as I used to read these books and it was set in a time I grew up in but no one was relatable nor was it similar to any of the books.

How were 90's kids different from modern kids?

reply

Less self conscious

reply

They weren't pussies for one

reply

Disagree. Maya Hawke was convincing. So was the lead mixed racial girl.

Also the guy that clearly was trying to be Scream Matthew Lillard almost pulled it off.
