the last stand was the last decent xmen film
'the young xmen' reboots pretty much sucked.
Logan sucked as well, despite having the oldies - professor was turned into a lunatic, and wolverine could barely walk.
But yeah - the animated series featured a fairly different phoenix saga - with some dudes controlling Jean via mind manipulation.
There's also the unexplored space alien saga - I don't recall the details, but it was actually pretty decent in the animated series.
Oh - and then there's the 2 part series of Magneto trying to move all mutants into a giant spaceship in order to escape prosecution from humans - that was decent as well.
And what about robots - and the ai taking over the world and trying to destroy x-men - that was in the first season, as I recall.
The point being, there's a lot of stuff that was unexplored by the films which worked extremely well in the animated series. Action film producers seem rather content simply rebooting the original 3 films with their 'young x-men' characters (of whom, I only like the magneto actor - he has legit acting skills - the rest though are subpar at best).
