Marvel fans are abuzz on social media over the possibility that the Disney-Fox merger could reunite characters from “X-Men” with the MCU. Twenty-First Century Fox has engaged in talks to potentially sell most of the company to Disney, CNBC reported Monday.

That's certainly be the best thing that could happen to the X-Men!

Marvel Films has been doing a much better job than Fox lately.

Sounds terrible. The last thing I could imagine is having Deadpool and Xmen "Disney-fied" for the under-aged audience. Every Marvel film that has come out has been the exact same formula with the exact same shtick. Worst news I've heard all week.

The easiest way to integrate the X-Men into the MCU is to simply make them a result of the aftermath of 'The Eternals' movie coming out. The basis of the storyline is how the Celestials came to earth and created three subspecies of humans: Eternals (successful mutations), Deviants (botched mutations), and normal (yet dormant) strains that make up humanity as it is today. Long story short: all they have to do is end the Eternals movie by having a trigger set off the latent mutation strain in the third subspecies (aka regular humanity), and you'll have the basis for mutants becoming a reality in the MCU.

How do you connect it to the existing MCU? Easy: Zuras, the announced main villain of 'The Eternals.' He is the son of Kronos and brother to Mentor (A'lars), the father of Thanos. Personally I hope they don't go the lazy route and just say "Zuras is Thanos' father," but they've already taken liberties in the past so I wouldn't put it past them either.

It will be a difficult integration. Having mutants created after Endgame is problematic because of all the storylines they will have to ditch such as Magneto using his powers during the holocaust. Having mutants created beforehand is problematic too since we've never seen them in the MCU.

The problem isn't limited to the MCU. At times it feels like Avengers and X-Men exist in separate universes in the comics. When they fight each other or team up there is always something amiss about it.

Frankly what they should've done with Dark Phoenix is end it on a cliffhanger with no planned resolution. But also introduce their own multiverse. Maybe have the M'Kraan crystal (which is in the Dark Phoenix saga) be the doorway into other universes. Or use any mcguffin. Have Jean be about to destroy the whole world. Xavier leads his school to the mcguffin and they all escape to a new universe that we don't see because it cuts to black. Then the ball is in Disney's court.
