Wasn't a fan of the Jerusalem's Lot storyline in S2

It just wasn't needed imo, Annie Wilkes almost felt like a side character and her story just felt so unimportant compared to how they was building up the Jerusalem's Lot stuff. The entire season was marketed to be about Annie Wilkes, all the trailers just showed her and never made any mention about this body snatchers Jerusalem's Lot stuff, yet thats what 70% of the season was about.

It just came off like they didn't have enough faith in Lizzy Caplan and this character to carry the season so they had to throw in this epic supernatural stuff about these people overtaking the town and trying to summon their god/leader. It was cool seeing Bill Skarsgard return but it wasn't needed this soon directly after season 1, and it honestly felt kinda cheap to use him again just to try and make the season feel bigger.

I was really hopping it was gonna be more about Annie, her beginning her thing with killing infants at the hospital and covering up her crimes. You could have had some side stuff going on of course but not anything that would have overtaken the season and made Annie feel less important.

I do think the Annie stuff was far superior to the supernatural element.

Also, I was disappointed that Salem's Lot wasn't being taken over by vampires.

It seems like Annie was only there to start this whole body switching thing by killing Ace and dumping him in the crypt. I feel like they were trying to cram two or three stories into one . I was hoping Salem's lot was going to be inhabited by vampires like in the book but maybe that was too predictable. If there's another season I hope they find one story and stick with it. It looked like Henry Deaver was missing at the end of season 2 so maybe they'll explain that. I would like to see them do something like Needful Things where a mysterious person opens an unusual store and everyone gets what they want but ends up paying way more than they bargained for.

I doubt they'll do a Needful Things season since we saw in old newspaper clips in season 1 about the events from the movie Needful Things, talking about the shop owner disappearing after store burns down.

I don't see this show directly taking a plot from one of King's movies or even books, they seem to be making their own original stories with characters and places from King's Universe. They'll make reference about the stuff from King's movies and books but they wont directly make a season exactly from one of King's books/movies.

I haven't seen this show, but Jerusalem's Lot was a short story by King that sounds like what you were describing as the plot. It was a Lovecraft inspired type story with no vampires, but evil townsfolk consorting with old demonish things. So I'm guessing this show was based on that story and not Salem's Lot.
