Pretty good so far
If you don't mind the supernatural. I'd go so far as to say better than any other Stephen King adaptation I've seen recently. (Wow have there been a lot lately.)

shareHow does it compare to 11.22.63? I thought that was pretty solid, and I'm not even a big James Franco fan.
shareYeah, that was good too. Neck and neck, I guess.
shareWhat about Mr. Mercedes - do you recommend?
I was sort of disappointed by that. It was okay, I guess. Certainly better than Under the Dome. (Although something compelled me to finish Under the Dome anyway.)
shareYou should try the audio book. It's read by Raul Esparza and the man has the most boring voice I've ever heard. My mind simply couldn't register him and I've listened to countless books. Even King was better when he, himself, read Needful things.
shareYou're probably right that it's better than any other recent Stephen King adaptations.
I've seen IT, Gerald's Game, Cell, 1922, The Mist, 11.22.63, The Dark Tower, and I think a few others, and I'd put Castle Rock ahead of all them.
It's not my favorite Stephen King project that I've SEEN recently though, as I watched the '99 mini-series Storm of the Century for the first time about a year ago and REALLY enjoyed it.
You must watch "Rose Red" if you enjoyed Storm of the Century. My favorite Stephen King movie to date.
shareI actually did end up watching Rose Red just a few months ago. I thought it was good, but a bit slow. It just kind of dragged at times.
I did enjoy it overall, though. A solid enough ghost story.
Well, you can't even rank it as an adaptation since it is not based on any Stephen King book. The producers got the rights to King characters and locations and created an original work that is an amalgamation of those characters and scenarios. If I were to compare this to actual King adaptations, I would rate it pretty low since there have been some superb King film adaptations. But I do like it. And I find it intriguing. But it's a very, very slow burn. 8 episodes in (with only 2 episodes to go) and we still don't really know what the hell is going on. So I get the feeling that the payoff is not going to be as satisfying or grand as the buildup.
shareI am also starting to get concerned that we won't get any answers.
And we do, I hope it doesn't turn out to be something completely underwhelming like on Lost.
It's quite good....I cannot wait to see where it is going.
