I find the show unwatchable. I'm glad it does good by some people. It's just not my thing.
shareI usually avoid any hospital or cop show since they've made about a billion of each.
shareJust checked out New Amsterdam. It's a lot of the same old crap. There seems to be two types of hospital show. The one that does everything as real as possible and the one that tries to show a fantasy version of great medicine could be.

Ask any nurse or orderly ... most doctors are assholes ... asshole with a god complex.
It would be kind of unnerving to have this guy as your doctor, but as a consulting physician, I think most peolpe could handle it, plus, at least as the character is written he is passionate and brilliant.

I agree and thought the show would have been cancelled. The entire premise is unrealistic, and dangerous.
shareI don't watch a lot of prime time show but I really like this one. I like some of these characters and all the medical jargon.
shareObviously, you are just prejudiced against people with autism (That's what he has, right? I don't watch the show). Then you definitely are not going to enjoy the show starting this fall season called Trisomy 911 about a police station filled entirely with cops with Down's Syndrome. It's got emmy written all over it!

shareI would give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he wouldn't be there unless he was qualified. It's not easy becoming a doctor, even harder becoming a surgeon, I think he would have already overcome a lot of his issues along the way or they would have flunked him.
