shareA tall, muscular woman is appropriate for playing a Terminator or Cyborg type character. Summer Glau was just wrong. Scarjo in Ghost in the Shell was decent, but left something to be desired; not that I'm complaining.
shareSummer Glau's character was supposed to blend in as a student and protect John. A 6 foot jacked chick wouldn't easily blend. Plus she's a machine and strong enough that size isn't really an issue.
shareThe problem with Glau's performance is that "heaviness" cannot be faked or acted. Pay attention to the way she leans her torso to keep her balance when holding a shotgun or heavy object with one hand. I suppose they could've faked it by giving the actress a lightweight replica of said objects. But Glau has the physicality of a ballerina, and it really shows. The reason why Robert Patrick and Kristanna Loken were so effective at portraying terminators is the combination of real-world strength and stamina, making the character appear both heavy and fast
