Overrated

Good movie bordering on great even. I hated the first Suicide Squad movie with it's trash circle in the sky bullshit but this movie is class.

All the main characters got good development and in the end they even justified their decision to help the people, that's good writing. Margo Robbie is still bangable. 7/10

I couldn't believe some early impressions said this was easily Top 5 best comic book movie ever, or "easily the best DCEU film" (not including the Nolan films).

Maybe I went in with too high of expectations after the early impressions were through the roof. I know a lot of them can be inflated as they usually are, but I thought this time it would be different since many weren't just saying it was "great", but belonging on Best of All Time lists.

I didn't hate the movie, but I'd probably rank it somewhere near the middle-bottom of comic book films. Ironically, it's technically well made. No fault to be found there. But a lot of the gore and humor was either too much or not very interesting to me. Some scenes also felt too long or unnecessary.

For me, apart from but related to the amount of gore, was the excessive kill count. I followed the production of this movie, and based on the large cast I figured that we'd have many more deaths than the original, but I didn't think that Gunn would basically use it as a central gimmick

The point that really bothered me was when they killed Polka Dot Man toward the end. David Dalstmachian put on a solid performance, but it didn't bother me because I loved the character or anything. It bothered me for 2 main reasons:

1st, Gunn already had his shocking blood-bath opening sequence. You already proved that no one is safe by killing off 2 of the OG members. Why is it necessary to keep killing members by the end of the film? Just for a cheap, overused gag where the character starts celebrating right before exploding? So annoying

2nd, the character was presented as a victim of parental abuse and Gunn uses it frequently as a joke. Hell, even at the end the character envisions the starfish as a giant version of his mother. And not soon after he is killed off for a gag

It shows that to me that Gunn didn't actually learn anything from almost getting canceled for his pedophilia jokes. He still has the same stupid sense of humor where he thinks abuse is great material for comedy

It was just too dumb to even rate. It makes the first Suicide Squad look like Citizen Kane.

It sucks so that's pretty much a spot on review.

I don't get it either. Almost all the jokes fell flat for me, except for a couple. Took me three sittings to get through the whole movie it was so boring with these long drown out meaningless scenes and generic action sequences. The ending was of course a huge CGI battle. I almost turned it off at 30 minutes in and wasn't going to continue, but slept on it and continued the next day. I did find Viola Davis' face hilarious as she has the look, I can't believe I'm in this film again, and maybe that was intentional. Cena was a surprise too as he has decent acting ability. I like most of Gunn's films, but thought this was a chore to get through, but to each their own.

I will say I thought it was better than the original SS, but it's still near the bottom for me.

I never saw the first movie, as it had bad word of mouth.
Watched this one, and found it meh.
Maybe the people who loved it had pretty low expectations after the first movie, or from DC in general.
Aquaman was painfully mediocre but even that got good reviews.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Never watched the first. I was completely bored with this one. One guy said it best the long drown out meaningless scenes and generic action sequences ruined this film. The humor fell flat. I didn't care about any of the characters other than polka dot man. Then they killed him. I was watching with others and they just loved it. It made me wonder what was wrong with me.
