How bad did you get spoiled?

I muted a bunch of words relating to Deadpool & Wolverine on twitter/X which obviously helped alot to stay spoiler free (I just seen the movie last night so unmuted them now and there's a deluge of spoilers on my feed from Ryan Renyolds, Jackman, and every movie news site posting pics of the surprises with wild abandon, even msm Daily Mail are reporting on the cameos now, there's no way id have been able to avoid every spoiler now.. I guess 1week post release is deemed long enough) , but I got sort of spoiled with cavill being a wolverine variant somehow. I don't recall where from exactly. May have been FB or X. then the fact cavill has been trending on twitter/X constantly past week or so (i.e, just seeing his name in the trend section, not in actually tweets as were muted) therefore knowing he was in the news for something so it was obviously legit. (watching in the movie I figured hed show up as DP searches the multiverse for Wolverines, so surprise was totally spoiled )

but the rest were complete surprises despite I think there being announcements about a year or more ago of Garner and Evans back in their foxverse roles (abit like when msm were reporting Adam West, Christopher Reeve would show up in The Flash about a year in advance then rumours of Cage closer to the release) but id totally forgotten about that, and anyway you wouldn't know for sure who gonna turn up...(abit like Dr Strange 2 with Cruise Iron Man etc).

I recall there was something about Hemsworth would appear (but he didn't really as it was augmented footage from The Dark World, I guess that might figure in Secret Wars?) There was also an announcement on movie news sites a few months ago that the forthcoming MCU Blade would be in it (I think they even showed a pic of him) and I was pretty bummed about it being the fake Blade from MCU whose movie they keep cancelling .. So when Blade did turn up and it was *gasp* Wesley Snipes as frickin B L A D E it was a legit insane surprise! in fact it took me a few seconds of like 'no it can't be .., its impossible!'πŸ˜†

Had I been spoiled on any of the Marvel ones id have been pretty pissed off as most of the fun was not knowing who was going to turn up next! (I could barely believe I was seeing Chris Evans in the same scene as Jackman Wolverine and initially figured he would be Cap until gradually twigged 'oh wait he's Johnny Storm' just before the 'flame on!' Which was obviously the desired reaction)

I avoided reading spoilers or reviews before I saw it on Tuesday, July 30th, so the only "surprises" I had already known about were stuff they openly told the public about BEFORE the movie was released... claiming Dafne Keen as X-23 was a big "surprise" when in reality she had been at the red carpet premiere with the REST of the cast, and they had announced publicly she was reprising the role. How was it a "secret" then?

Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool was also a "surprise" they had already told the public about, so I knew it was coming.

The REST of the film came as a total surprise to me, I didn't even realize Wolverine would wear the actual mask, although I should have seen it coming by the fact we knew he was wearing the iconic yellow-and-blue uniform for the first time.

Yeah x23 was in a late trailer and as a result all over the net even if you didn't watch the trailer. I guess bc she was in a trailer it doesn't technically count as a big spoiler (but would've been nice not to know so would've been a big surprise with the rest)

I just read an article yesterday reporting in all the cameos but dated 26 july! Presumably when the film premiered was shown at comic con and all the cast attended including Snipes, Garner, Evans, Tatum so thankfully I didn't see any of that! (thanks to muting a bunch of words on twitter 'Deadpool, Wolverine, Reynolds, Jackman, Xmen, Cavill' etc and for whatever reason the movie sites weren't reporting it on FB, Instagram, bc i have no clue how to mute stuff on those )

One of the most clever ways they tricked us and "subverted expectations" is that Ryan Reynolds did a "disclaimer" on the internet months earlier, when he promised "I know you're all wondering how Wolverine can come back after the character died in Logan. Well, first off, we're not touching that. What really happens in our film is--" and then he's abruptly cut off by music to avoid the "spoiler".

We all took him at his word that the film wouldn't "undo" the ending of Logan (especially since it was such a poignant, somber scene meant to be THE END of the character), that the film itself would tiptoe around the events of Logan.

Lo and behold, not only DID Deadpool & Wolverine "undo" Logan, but he announced right at the START of the movie that he was going to literally dig up the corpse, and then proceeded to literally desecrate it.

This was the LAST thing I'd expect the film to actually do!

I wish they left X23 out of the last trailer, only a week before the release. Elektra I think was somewhat known. The only one I got spoiled was a thumbnail and title on youtube about Hulk. Good thing it was irrelevant cameo. Seeing Gambit, Blade and Johnny Storm was great and not knowing about it.

I think avoiding trailers is key. I try to avoid trailers to any movie that I am already sure I am going to see.

Blade was spoiled for me, which sucked. Didn't know about Electra, Gambit, or Johnny Storm though.
