I haven't been paying attention to the Leah show other than in promotions and what little I know about the "religion," but it seems JW uses some of the same tactics with it's members. Only it's just a little less wacky. I know an old friend who adopted it later in his life and I'm rather disappointed. Even though I didn't hassle him about it, he began to distance himself from me and we had been close friends for over 20 years.
shareIn South Korea, I know a dude and his family is split between christians and JW - and when they meet for thanksgiving, things are always awkward, if not outright hostile.
To me, it's all rather hilarious - I'm not religious, but man... religion in general is a really freaky thing.
I actually saw JW featured on a to show about cults. I was shocked. The tv show is called Cults & Extreme Beliefs. It mainly talked about sexual abuse and the lack of reporting it to the police. That’s all I can remember.
But I will say they have their own publications and Bible.
Funny you bring this up. Season 3 of the show leads off with a special episode about parallels between the JWs and Scientology.

It's pretty interesting, though I suppose you could draw the same parallels between most destructive cults.
