Kinda petty, but does anyone else struggle

With Leah's stuffy nose? It literally drives me to distraction.
I love this show, and really like her and Mike, but she has some serious nasal issues.

reply

Haha. It does sound like she could benefit from a nettie pot.

I actually came on here to make a comment about her voice and the way she hardly moves her lips. She talks like her mouth is full of marbles. I was also surprised to find out she was only 46. She has the voice of a 60 yr old.

I was feeling like I was so superficial given the depth of the topic, but the voice and lipstick constantly detract from the material. I think they could scrape about a pound of whatever is on her lips. Also, her foul language does not compute with the professional presentation. I agree with the anger and words, but just takes away from the topic to keep hearing the beeps and blank spaces where the words were.

well, it is superficial.

I came here to see if her huge lips distracted anyone else from her deeply engaging and exposing interviews with people that have distanced themselves from the church of Scientology. It is very hard for me to understand how she can conduct a serious conversation about something that has effected her so deeply with lips that seem so superficially injected with something to make them look so big and puffy. I'm not sure if any injections make her lips seem like they never move, or if that is a characteristic of hers but I don't see that in her sitcom. Her lips never caught my attention in her sitcom. I watch it often as my husband has a huge crush on Leah and will watch reruns of her show over and over again.

I used to watch King of Queens and every so often she'd sound super stuffy. Maybe a medical issue?

I especially noticed around her pregnancy (so episodes that aired in 2004), she was very stuffed up. Afte that, it seems like it kind of remained. She nay have been nasally before 2004, but I don't think she ever looked and sounded so stuffed up until after. My guess is it's something that persists without responding to treatment... a pesky deviated septum or something? I'm not sure.

What gets me is how she doesn't really move her lips. Its as if she's trying to manipulate the way she speaks. I don't remember her sounding like she was speaking so carefully on any of her scripted roles.

She's still pretty but she needs to lay off the botox. And don't get me started on her Wolverine nails!

reply

Yes! Her lips too!
I think she's gotten so many adjustments to her lips that she doesn't even know how to use them properly anymore.
Don't wrong-I really do love this show, and think that she's doing a fabulous job; but her lips, voice, and nails make me fold towels when I watch it. Anything to divert my eyes.

I have always noticed that she is a mouth breather and doesn't seem to use her nasal air flow, but I don't find it distracting. This series is the first time I've ever given the slightest s**t about her, and even never breathing out of her nose, I wouldn't change anything.

Don't ever go to Brooklyn. Then you'll be the one with the "odd voice".

It is very, very petty. I don't understand why anyone would see something different and dislike it, rather than just accepting we all speak different.

Southern, Cockney, Long Island... for me, I don't care. There's beauty in diversity. Don't put your ugly thoughts in it.

A person hates you because they either wanna be you, see you as a threat, or hate themself

Who the hell cares? Of all the lame things to complain about----good grief.
