Yes, the show is a metaphor.....but
I just can't handle the idea of a train going around and around forever.
As far as science goes the "walking dead" is more real.

yes especially in -100degree temps. can metal tracks really stand that cold temperature without breaking? and the tracks not getting more snow/avalanches on them to know the train off track? it goes around the world 2.7 times so what after 4months of nothing the tracks are good to go?

We really have to stretch ourselves with this whole premise. I suppose an alloy specifically designed to not fracture in that temperature could be made, and the tracks themselves placed out of areas of avalanches (despite one episode using an avalanche as plot device).
The biggest suspension of disbelief is that the Snowpiercer is some sort of over-unity device that is self powered as long as it's moving.
It would have made way more sense if the track was on a way smaller loop, in say one country, not circumnavigating the whole globe pointlessly.
sharewell if it goes around the world they can at least see if any areas have unfroze yet or show signs of life.
shareSolid point.
shareThey can still do that with their system of balloons and triangulation and data gathering they did with it.
Plus with that tech, they can easily command all their satellites as well and get close ups and weather reports and what not still.
You just have to totally and completely , blindly , accept thats a thing , and then go from there ....
