Hey, folks. I'm 51 and have never watched the animated Lion King. Should I watch this new thing, the original animated, or just not bother? I can probably get the 3D version of the original if I should watch that.

I haven't seen it either and I am your age. I just have no interest. Also, the reviews haven't been that good. I did like the remake of The Jungle Book though, but this one isn't getting positive buzz like Jungle Book did.

shareWatch the cartoon and avoid the new movie like the plague. You'll be doing yourself a favor. Have some kids in the room while you're watching too. Makes the experience more fun ;).

I mean, it for sure gets tiring hearing the same criticism from unimpressed nostalgists, especially those who were dismissing this new adaptation since the day it was first announced. Those who don’t exactly hold nostalgia for the original but still saw it first and are now endlessly pointing out what the new one did wrong? Yawn. XD
But it’s nice to know that audiences have generally responded well to the new film.

Hardly. Audience reception has been largely polarizing at best, and WON'T get any better with time.
Are you a fan of animation or live action childrens films? if so then sure. Check it out. It's never too late to do so, but if not then it obviously isn't something you should consider watching.
