Taking a step back, I realized that this movie left more of a mark on me than I thought it did. I was pretty bored, annoyed and depressed watching it but I somehow thought about it quite a few times after. It left an uncomfortable, disturbing and disgusting mark in my mind. Poor me. Would never watch it again and wouldn’t recommend even to my worst enemy. My rating: 4/10

This movie is about trauma, specifically child SA. It's supposed to be disturbing and uncomfortable.
My interpretation is: this is what a grown-up who has grown with severe abuse looks like. This is what trauma and abuse does to someone. The ending even implies that he did ( or was about to do) to the missing boy what was done to him.
It was a very well done movie, and I totally would recommend it. The acting is fenomenal.
I totally understand what you mean. And strangely, some of my favourite movies are quite dark (Requiem for a dream, A beautiful mind, Trainspotting…) but this was tedious for me to watch. Very ugly and tedious.
