Why did he tell the mother her 'polite son' let him in when it turned out to be the female phrogger who answered the door to him? Did I miss something here?
shareYou missed something. The repairman definitely made reference to a young woman letting him in. That's why the mother was taken aback.

Yeah just checked and you're right he says 'you trained her well' not 'him' as I first thought.

Yes the HH character was confused when the repairman said "her". As to the question of why Dad called for a window replacement, maybe he assumed his son would be home, but as we see, the son is acting out and mad at his Mom, so maybe is just didn't want to come home. I think it briefly shows a scene where the son comes home and she's in his room where they talk. I watched it last night and plan on re-watching it today. Now that I know the end, I want see the clues again. Pretty good movie, and a different spin on a "murder mystery/who done it" film.
