Anyone think the hate is a little unfair?

I haven't seen it. If you genuinely think it's a bad movie, that's fine. But people were judging it before they saw it. Yes, the visuals were creepy, but that doesn't automatically make it a bad movie. I think people are afraid to like it.

Its not the top 100 level of bad but it isnt a good movie. Also most people cannot get past through it being filled with weird furry humans that act like cats so thats going to make or break the movie to you.

A little - it's not very good, but it's not completely shite either - 5/10.

I have to admit that I gave it hate without even seeing it, but it is understandable in my case and I'm only human. I was nineteen years old when the musical Cats came to our town. I couldn't wait to see it. After the show I was asked if I wanted to go meet some of the performers backstage. Man, I was thrilled. But when I got back there, they were drunk and out of control. Rumpus Cat and Macavity kept feeling up my leg. I tried to leave, but Rumpleteazer held me down, and I was raped by Mr. Mistoffelees.

So you can see why I might have some unfair negativity towards anything Cats related.

No it's not.

I saw it last night and while I didn’t mind the visuals, for me it was just an extremely dull musical with unmemorable, repetitive songs and a plot that made little to no sense.

The dialogue was also appalling

“Cat got your tongue?”

“Look what the cat dragged in”

I’d say what the cat dragged in was a dog’s breakfast.

And they mentioned "Jellicle" about 1000 times in the movie and I still don't know what a jellicle is.

It's a movie about people running around in cat pajamas. Of course its bad....😂

reply

No, it's people running around in godawful cat CGI, not cat costumes!

Without the dreadful costumes and effects it'd be just dull, but the horrible costumes and size effects put it into dazzling high-camp godawful territory! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's possible that more people will pay to hate-watch and snark at a memorably bad movie than will pay to watch one that's just dull.

reply

No. It's a turd.
