How would you describe this type of movie?

Can't be categorized as horror, right? I mean it has spooky elements but is shown as comedy, adventure, and family.

I would say that it's horror for children. A lot of the Halloween films/TV for juniors could be termed Family Horror I reckon.

Yeah, family horror is what I'd call it too. Which is basically the Goosebumps brand, the family friendly version of Tales From The Crypt.

Just watched this. I'd go with family horror. I'd also agree with gateway horror; it introduces kids to horror in the same way as Scooby-Doo.
