Did the director/writers hated the source material ?!

They basically turned Peter Pan into an antagonist. Even Wendy punches him in the face. This film has barely any relation to JM Barry work except for the character's names. Some people might like it and that is fine but what is not questionable is that this is NOT Peter Pan , it is not even a retelling because it uses none of the important parts of the book. It is something else altogether.

Watch the old 1950s Disney cartoon or the 2003 live-action film. Both are so much better by comparison.

Yes, I agree, the 2003 version with Jason Iisaacs is to me the only adaptation that really translate the themes of the book. Actually watching this one made me realize just how good the 2003 version was.

Sorry, forgot the release year. Yep, it was beautifully shot, the kids were great actors, and Jason Isaacs made a great Captain Hook.
