C'mon! Kevin w/ a 10yo. Matt w/ a Kindergarten?! Liza Snyder from horrible 1994 Jessie (Christina Applegate) having a kid 5 years ago?! Is this science-fiction or will they address obvious adoption of the 2 youngest? Stop casting these broken-down old men w/ little kids.
It's fairly common for successful, educated people to start families later in life - outside of high school, say, to give you some context. Just because you have no role models like that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's a big world out there, miss.
This goes too far. I agree with the consensus that older parenthood is possible. Especially if the father is the older one.
But on this show, he is not older. And it's implied that they had their first kid in their mid-30s. Then another kid a decade later. That's possible but very, very difficult. I'd like to see pop culture do a better job of showing the difficulty. Especially the risk of miscarriage.
After watching all the episodes in a couple of days, not once did I think that there was anything weird about the age of the children, in the show Black-ish the mother is pregnant and the oldest is supposed to be about 16. Strange observation as I think Matt Le Blanc and his wife look early 40's, which would be right.
When I was in high school my best friend's dad was sixty-five. My great-grandfather was still having kids with his thirty-something wife when he was seventy. It happens.
