My dad was 50 also when I was born. I had a buddy whose dad was born in 1900. He was born in 1963 so when we hung out we were about 15 and his dad was 78 already. And I thought my dad was old, lol.

This is by far the stupidest comment. Not everyone has 3 kids by the time they are 25 - especially these days. Who said Matt is playing a 50 yr old anyway? Just because you have grey hair doesn't mean you're over 50.

um, it is perfectly normal for people to start having kids while in their 30s or 40s. not everybody starts in their 20s. some people might not meet the love of their life until later, or they spent years in school, starting a career, buying a home, saving money, etc. smh.
or do you just have a problem with math? if a person has a kid at 35, guess what, they will be 50 with a 15 year old. not a big deal.

I think it is more unlikely, but not impossible, given that the wife (Liza Snyder) is 48 years old in real life. Having a child when a woman is in her mid 40's is uncommon due to issues of higher percentage of not having a healthy baby. It was more likely when Jenna Fischer was cast as the mother, being 6 years younger than Liza Snyder, that the ages of the children were a more likely scenario.
I agree with your premise about older male actors tending to have younger wives in sitcoms and thus younger kids. It is the problem when networks won't take a chance on a younger comedic actor and recycles older actors who have had hit sitcoms in the past.

Jenna Fischer....what happened?
My Dad was 50 and Mom was 34 or 35 when I was born. Plus I have a brother 9 years older than me from Mom's previous marriage and a half-brother and half-sister who are I think 20 and 21 years older from Dad's previous marriage.
Dad was retired when I was 10, went back to work 6 months later then retired for good when I was 14.
