Sequel- expected or needed? [Spoilers]

I actually enjoyed the film, especially the ending. Given that we must assume that Calvin escapes into the sea (unless it can fly?)- will there be a sequel?

If so, would Calvin attempt to attack urban human life (and become a boring 'bug-hunt' in high-rise buildings) or find safety somewhere isolated - like the polar caps, becoming a 'Thing' type film?

a sequel would ruin the haunting ending of this movie...

Not even close. A sequel could be the biggest downer sequel in cinema history. In a good way.

After watching it, I had the feeling that this could have been a nice prequel to the "Cloverfield" franchise. The funny thing is that "Clover" (the monster from "Cloverfield") looks like an overgrown, now fully earth adapted, version of "Calvin":

At least it would have been a better pre(se?)quel than "Cloverfield Paradox".
