Is Brian dead?

All of the characters are very weird about Brian. Dom names his kid after him. That's strange. Obviously we know what happened in the real world. But we must ask what is happening in the story. Is it possible Brian died and everybody in Dom's troop is in denial about it? Or maybe just Dom is in denial and they all go along with it? Did Brian die in a harrowing encounter at one point in the films, perhaps even Dom's fault, and he just went "he's at a farm in the sky with his boyhood dog" about it all?

It's implied in the last movie that he's still alive, but I haven't seen this one yet.

Personally, I'd rather the character was not alive in the films as well. I feel like they gave him such a good send off, it seems more respectful to let Brian just lay to rest. I know he's fictional, but in a way to everyone, Paul Walker WAS Brian.

They really need to just kill him off. It makes no sense that he is still alive and has so little participation.

Just have him die in his sleep. It happens all the time even with young people in shape.
