I really liked the FF franchise - until now

It started humble with the first part around 20 years ago. But I very much enjoyed it. Even FF2, mindless fun - great cars. Tokyo Drift wasn't my thing, but I enjoyed the Japan setting. FF5 to FF7 were really enjoyable. Over the top, but for a brainless movie night with a couple of drinks exactly the right thing. Liked The Rock and Statham.

FF8 was a decline already, but watchable. But now...F9. I almost turned off and looking back I wish I'd never turned it even on. The characters stay completely bland,
Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Otto was a walking cliché and nothing at all intimidating for a "bad" guy. John Cena was there....or was he? Well, his acting skills didn't fall short of the other performances. Hallmark movie level.
Seldom I saw such a boring action movie. Explosions, fights, car crashes, it's all there...but nothing was exciting. At all. And then the Fiero in space...good god. Elon did it first anyways.

The FF franchise got more and more CGI heavy lately. But the FX here were at times laughable...on par with some FX of "Die Another Day". It looked like a video game....from 10 years ago.

I really wanted to like it and to have fun. I always defended the FF franchise when a new movie came out. But now it's time to end it. Really.

I know what I will do tonight: Watch a classic car chase movie with no CGI whatsoever. I'm gonna go on a beer run with The Bandit and The Snowman.

Personally, I thought number 8 was worse than this one. I’m hoping (but not holding my breath) that the last 2 films will go back to its roots and lose all of the unnecessary CGI, and impractical stunts.

I think FF9 has too much fighting. They're trying to make these illegal street racers into kung fu masters wtf.

Totally agree. Though my hatred began around F7. I wasnt totally there yet but 8 pushed my hatred to max and stupidly I watched 9. Good grief it was a piece of shit. So bad and As much as I like Han it was one of the most convoluted ways to bring a character back...they should have left him dead.....
Plus they fucked the timeline up even more. Dom would have been 13 in 1989. The vehicles used were from the late 90's. I'm wondering if someone screwed up and meant 1998 and not 89...
