It is curious. Inner-city blacks are shooting/aborting themselves to extinction, while Asian and latinos keep growing in population. But blacks have saturated prime time television, whereas these other groups are virtually stricken from the airwaves.

You sound just as idiotic, stupid and racist as the OP. TV is getting more diverse mainly because you have far more black, Asian, and Latino writers/producers/directors behind the scenes in TV. And black people don't live in just the inner city---I'm black, and grew up in the suburbs. If all blacks left the US then(please bear in mind that blacks only make up 13% of the population):
Prison pop would go down by 37%
There'd be 50% less gang members
Rape would go down significantly
Overweight and Obesity percentage would go down by 10%
Average IQ would go up by 7 points(wow)
SAT Scores would go up by about 100 points
ACT Scores would go up by 5.5points
AIDS and HIV would go down by over 67%
Chlamydia cases would go down by 50%
Gonorrhea would go down by 69%
Syphilis would go down by 58%
And the number of welfare recipients would go down by about 40%
13% responsible for 40% of the welfare? Bitch please.
And to top it off:
90% of all interracial crimes are commited by blacks.
Of course theres also data on the hispanic side.
But to keep it short hispanics are 2.6 times as likely to go to prison than whites.
So there you have it, this is why OP and others do not want to watch this series. There probably wouldnt be an issue if the main actor was Asian, simply because Asians behave in countries that were created by white people.
But taking the beloved main actor out of the series and replacing it with a representative of a race that is responsible of facts listed above, especially the one being responsible for 90% of all interracial crimes? Im sure there'd be people protesting.

Seriously, who gives a *beep* what skin color the protagonist has? What's important is that the show is well written/produced and that the action is cool.

And FYI---I don't know how the hell you could not notice this, but regular broadcast TV is STILL 98% white. So why the hell are racist troll idiots like you even complaining about this ONE show merely because it has a black lead? The point is, even white TV viewers are getting tired of seeing the same type of look-alike white leads over and over again, and would like to see somebody different in the lead for a change.
And,uh, in case you didn't notice, black people watch TV too---just as much as white people do. And,BTW, the new character isn't replacing the Jack Bauer character--this new story simply takes place in the same universe. It's made by the same people who created the original 24,too. As a white person, let me say this:
There still aren't enough persons of color on TV. I like diversity in the shows I watch. More black people, more Hispanic people, more Asians, more Native Americans, all make for better TV.
Why? Mostly because it reflects our country as it is. Also because it upsets the uneducated hillbillies like the OP.

Actually this is real answer.
White people cutting the cords/antennas and pick and choose whatever they want from Hulu/Netflix/On Demand and so on.
Hispanic people are staying with their own channels.
Broadcast/Basic cable have to represent their viewing base which is probably around 33% black comparing to 12-14% of blacks in general population. Also I read somewhere that black people(as hispanics) spend more time on average on watching TV than white people.
So TV executives see their audience is getting blacker and they respond accordingly. Money flow trumps color in TV.
I can pretty much guarantee you that no matter who the opening villains are in Day 10, we are going to find out by seasons end that those who orchestrated the events of the day are going to be old rich white man. Nearly every season of 24 follows that trend, minus Day 4, and it got old a long time ago.
