shareThe idea that you have to ACTUALLY have 2 million in hand to meet the guy with the thumbdrive is absurd.
The idea is to get it before he meets with the badguys.
You would think that the CTC could come up with something, arrange to pick the guy up, secure the drive and help out the guy at the same time.
This having to get the money before the meet is beyond ludicrous and points to bad writing and research.
Thumbdrives are very prone to breaking, rendering the information useless or at least difficult to recover. And the drive wasn't even encrypted!!!
Hire some competent advisors.
Think you missed the part where they didn't want CTU being involved as they could have been involved in the leak of information. At this point the directer of CTU was still being held against his will.
