To every 24 fan
So to everyone who won't watch 24 without Kiefer Sutherland,it means 1 of 2 things that all of you were never 24 fans or you are all a bunch of thickos.

shareLooking forward to this. Hope it's as good as the original. The original had a great starting episode I will always remember.

I always liked 24 for it's popcorn action and silly stories. The problems with the show arrive when I actually think about the plot and various plot holes and ridiculous side stories that accompanied the usual badassary of Jack and his team. I gave this first episode a try and it didn't really grip me. Average at best is the review I would give.
sharePerfectly fine with all new people in a 24 reboot. Looked forward to it.
It was pretty sad. A few cool elements but not even half as cool as original. The high school part was far better than everything else. The show feels forced. Hard to believe it is still Surnow and Coto.
I get what you're saying, but it sounds like you're just rallying blind fanboyism.
A true "fan" isn't someone who loves absolutely everything with their beloved label on it (24, X-Men, Star Wars, Resident Evil games, etc...) a true fan is someone that despite their love for the franchise they can own up to when things have either declined or have seriously strayed from what made the franchise so great to begin with.
I'm not implying that the new 24 is a decline or has "strayed"...but I am implying that Jack/Keifer was *one* of the biggest reasons why 24 was as good as it was, so to not have him around definitely leaves a big hole that's tough to fill. If fans don't respond well to his absence after viewing the show then they should be allowed to voice their disappointment, not be told "Well then I guess you didn't really like 24 that much in the first place."
My personal example is Dragonball. The original and Z were great and formed the cooler tropes of what anime is known for today...BUT there are tons of bad DB games, an awful live-action movie, and of course: GT and Super. They all suck by comparison. They've disappointed and undelivered on the elements that made the show so lovable. Does that mean I was never a big Dragonball fan? No, it means I just don't like garbage.
"Osbourne Cox? I thought you might be worried...about the security...of your sh*t."
One of things you talk about how the Jack/Kiefer aspect of 24 was the reason it was so good that's true but 24 has to be given a chance to prove itself with the new guy.
