Was 24 Always this Stupid!

This is beyond bad. Currently running a 5.4. Extremely generous.

Two shows in and:

The director of the CTU is already tazed and locked down white no questions about where he is?
Protagonist beaks in a police station to give to his junky friend, who states will give aid and comfort to terrorists, $2,000,000.
A candidate for President's Campaign Chief is a terrorist.

We waited almost 5 years for this and this is what ethy came up with? Where did they get these writers a Saturday Morning Cartoon Show? What a disappointment.

This is why IMDB is cancelling the message boards, so we can't worn people about shows like this.

reply

And what did you want them to come up with?

This is what 24 is all about, I suggest you rewatch the previous 9 days and get back to us before the forums close.

reply

Absolutely it was always this stupid. Difference was they had decent characters that you cared about. These episodes so far have made everyone look bad.

Even for 24, the police break in idea was stupendously stupid. The hero's brainstorm is to take two cops hostage with plastic explosive belts(damn he constructed those quickly) and break into a police station evidence room. Yup, I'm sure there are no easier ways to deal with his junkie friend. Jack Bauer is spinning in his grave. Well, Audrey is anyway.

reply

they should wrap it up in an afternoon, that rolling cylinder in episode 1 - someone got paid to come up with that idea...

reply

Yeah probably the same one that came up with the cougar. Kim working for CTU. A mole in every other seat of CTU. Agents always going rogue. Everyone backstabbing every other person. No one trusting Jack ever despite proving how he was always loyal.
What was that show again?????

reply

yeh but they had good shoot outs

reply

And this one had two great shootouts in the first ep.

reply

cmon larosat they were not great

reply

Well hey dude sez you. Were there better ones on 24?? Of course and quite a few but that doesn't take away that both shootouts in the first ep were well done and exciting.

Couldn't agree more. I had to swallow my words, because after the first episode I had told everyone that I was loving the new 24, and then we get a second episode full of truly idiotic plot points - none more so than the plan to steal money from a police station.

reply

Its been nowhere near 5 years since Live Another Day.

reply

No, it wasn't always this stupid.

24 had its far-fetched moments, even cringeworthy, at times.

But... not so many, so quickly, in only the first two episodes.

At least 24 had some intrigue and interesting characters and sucked you in before pulling its more ridiculous plot twists. This one has cookie-cutter characters, thus far, not to mention a major sub-plot being a bunch of drug dealers with bizarre speech patterns, and already several facepalms.

I really want to give it a chance, but I'm not encouraged. And at this rate, after another couple episodes, I can't see myself wasting time.

Classic 24... This new season is off to a great start

reply

Be a little more serious - 1400 people have voted. How many of those do you think have rated it a solid 1.0, because of the simple fact that Jack Bauer isn't in it?

reply

You must not have watched the original series; because in the first few episodes Jack drugged George Mason and kept him locked in his office
