Season Three lost momentum

I really enjoyed season one and two of the show and eagerly looked forward to the final season. While I couldn't stop watching the first two seasons, I found the third season to be a bit tedious. The show was disjointed in that the kids were on one planet and the parents were off on another planet. Don West became comic relief and he wasn't really that funny. Dr. Smith was a reformed villain who was so nice that she was boring. It also seemed like the kids were the heroes more often than the adults. The cute kid from season one and two had a HUGE growth spurt so he was now as tall as his dad.

This season lacked a strong villain since the robot was the villain. My problem is that the bad robot isn't that different than the good robot. The robot did have some subtitles but the robot couldn't every fully articulate his plan to destroy the universe and that's an important role for every villain in a film or show.

While the visuals were solid, it does appear that they changed directors too often. Some of the directors would zoom in on certain shots and go for a more artistic view while the others had their own style. The continuity of the show is disrupted when different directors take a different approach with each episode.

I still enjoyed the series overall but the last season was a letdown.

I liked Don's character but it's true that a lot of his "funny" dialogue was a bit forced and lame, especially when it's a very serious and stressful situation and he's still cracking jokes, often when he's the only person there. But when Judy pointed out that she considers him family too in that last or second last episode, that was a very touching moment.

Maybe because we have a pet chicken just like Debbie, I don't know...

It was hilarious how much Will grew in that time off from production, we kept noticing how he's taller than this person and that person... we even checked to see if it was the same actor.

When did this show ever have momentum.

I thought the first couple of seasons had more excitement and mystery. Dr. Smith was usually plotting something BUT she became a reformed villain in the third season. It might be a weird social justice moment when the showrunners decided that they could not have a human villain who wasn't a white male or a nazi LOL. Even the robot villain was transformed into a good robot so EVERYBODY can be rehabilitated. It was also cool to see whether they would find new worlds and get back home. There was also that mystery about the daughter's long-lost father. I thought the third season emphasized the kids over the adults.

I'm guessing the show was supposed to have 10 eps for season 3 and it got cut short due to covid....I enjoyed season 3 very much. Though I bet Judy's father, the robinsons and don would have had more screentime if they went 10 eps .....still an overall enjoyable show and as much as I like the goofy original this one was much better for drama and character development...

I still enjoyed watching the show overall but I thought the third season was different. The third season had too many comedic moments, the kids were more involved and there wasn't a clear villain. The kids ended up turning many bad robots into good robots and SAR turned out to be bad due to faulty programming. Dr. Smith transformed herself from a villain into a remorseful and reformed member of the team.

I thought the treatment of Judy's father was weird. They found him and he then disappeared. My theory is that the writers wanted to establish that Judy's father was not an absentee father and he would have stuck around if Maureen had only told him that she was pregnant.

I think there should be a villain in shows BUT the writers want to push some naive worldview that everyone is inherently good.

Well at its core it was still a family show. Not a silly goofy family how like the original but still a family show. I think they used the word shit one time and maureen almost said fuck...lol. Dr. Smith in the original always tried to do right by the family as well. Dont forget this show only had only 28 episodes from start to finish but in think they did well. It was refreshing to get something less dark and a bit more hopeful than the trash I have seen with the new Star Treks.

I also loved the vehicles in this show. The chariot and jupiter were awesome and they more than lived up to their orignal counterparts....

Season 3 was unwatchable. I couldnt understand what was happening half the time. They were all running there and there, meeting each other. Then there were robots who wanted God knows what. Then they were all on a planet and there was nonsense battle. And Ive got lost even more.

Eventually I just waited for it to be over. They didnt have material for 3 seasons.
