Is this a real thing or not?
I've read the novel, it would be one hell of a feat to make a movie out of it. I'd do a ten part limited series myself. Trying to cram it all into two hours would leave your audience confused as hell because there'd be limited time for context and explanations.
The whole idea of being able to visit futures which disappear into oblivion like quantum fluctuations when you go back to your own time is fascinating stuff. Especially since some of the people who interact with you realize they will cease to exist the moment you leave. The Terminus has to be one of the most uniquely disturbing fictional doomsday scenarios I've encountered.
It's really quite a mix of genres, resembling an episode of NCIS in places while other parts feature exploration of the far reaches of space and time and an alien adversary trying (or so it seems) to destroy us. The entities called QTNs are truly alien - clearly malevolent, but with motives that may be utterly incomprehensible to humans. Add to that a reality that's highly fluid, not only are your present and future up in the air but even your past isn't safe from being wiped out or altered beyond recognition. I will definitely watch this, if only to see how they depict the Terminus, the planet Esperance, the endless forest, and other bizarre environments from the book.
