important to know the previous trilogy before this?

is this a continuation or connected story line to the Steig Larsson trilogy (dragon tattoo, hornets next etc).... or is it fine to dive into this straight without knowing much about the rest?

not much time to get updated on the trilogy, hence asking :))

No, they fill you in, or you can infer such things as her relationship with the Dutch-accented hacker who helps her.

New story info about her sister & father start this story off.

There was NO mention of a sister in the original trilogy. I guess they just made that up?
