I'm actually liking this...

The CGI has improved a lot since the first trailer showing of it long ago where everyone was raging the ship. Looks more in line with movie Star Trek type CGI so we know the budget in this series is humbling. Opening intro is neat as well... like they took a page from Westworld a teeny tiny bit.

I guess for those who've watched the TOS, the amount of similarities are vexing at best (no originality) but for someone like me whose only seen bits and pieces of TOS and some of the movies, I am enjoying it so far.

The annoying part was why they wouldn't send a security team or go along with them in capturing T'Kuvma...

At least this is a better alternative to Orville (space show wise) for the time being.

I've finished watching episode two and can see the series seems to be going to go in a completely different direction compared to these two pilot episodes. I'll stick with it.

Could be the first Star Trek to have constant flashbacks to explain character backgrounds like Lost.

The CGI was indeed impressive. Too bad the budget could only afford some used uruk-hai costumes from LOTR modified with camel turd and voice actors with some kind of slow speech impediment as klingons after that.

The idea of these space ships moving in space like Spanish galleons move in the water is something that really needs re-imagining.

They do a better job in "The Expanse" showing military maneuvers in space.

Also the idea that a shock to the ship makes all the lights flicker at once or go off is just stupid.

The whole idea of sending Michael in a space suit to dodge asteroids is another dumb idea.

The ship is blown to bits and the cell in the brig is burning though power to keep a containment field ... while everything else is flickering or off?

This was awful ... but I absolve kids under 9 for liking it, they don't know any better.

Star Trek can't compare to Expanse though, no space show so far (still airing) can. The intricate details, the CGI is also top notch for that series as well. Expanse is based off real science as well or at least tries to.

I take Star Trek at face value like I would Star Wars. My fav is still TNG though. Gotta love Picard. :p

The CGI is really nice. To bad that the characters are lifeless and boring and some of the acting is just horrible. Also when the fuck did the Vulcan start using violence to solve there problems.
