Disney's moving Love, Victor to Hulu raises questions of what exactly Disney+ considers "family friendly"

The Love, Simon spinoff series was developed for Disney+, but was moved to Hulu this week because it was reportedly considered too mature for Disney's new streaming service. In wake of the decision, Julie Alexander wonders why a movie like Splash and a show like The Simpsons are streaming on Disney+, even though they both aren't family friendly programming. "Out of all the shows Disney Plus offers to its subscribers, The Simpsons is arguably the least family friendly," says Alexander. "It’s tamer than other adult animation being released today, but many of The Simpsons jokes are based around Homer’s alcoholism. Parents on Common Sense Media have written about the slapstick humor being borderline content for their kids, argued episodes have mildly sexually suggestive content, and the language might not be appropriate for anyone under 10. Again, while many of these concerns have lessened over time (remember the ‘90s panic over The Simpsons?), The Simpsons is the exact type of show that seems built for Hulu, not Disney Plus. The Simpsons is the only 'comfort food' that Disney Plus has to offer subscribers right now, though."

I was thinking the same thing it makes no sense to have things like The Simpsons on Disney+ but not This.

oddly for being progressive Disney is still afraid of diversity

Wow, 2020 and the Simpsons is being called out for not being family friendly. All of a sudden I'm back in 1991.
