whats with the 12 years gap? **SPOILERS**
In the movie, the demon is calm for 12 years. what gives? Whats the theory behind this?

They clearly explain it in the movie, when the wife tells the story of what happened with their daughter and how the doll got the evil in it, she talks about how they dealt with the demons and paranormal stuff during the 12 year gap. She says a priest came and blessed the house and they covered the closet in pages from the bible so the evil would be surrounded and trapped by gods words.
When Janice was lured to Annabelle's room and opened the closet the evil was let out.
hmm, if all it took was put the devil in the cupboard and lock. Why didnt it work at the end of the movie? When the sister puts the cross on her and pushes her into the cupboard and closes it.
The devil goes ape sht, but later we see theres a hole in the wall and has escaped.
clearly, the cupboard does nothing for her/.
Also, at the end, when they are showing the timeline after 12 years, we see a seemingly well settled family, with photographs of the kid growing up.
But only after 12 years, did she come and kill the parents.
Well my take on it was the closet could only hold the evil while it was inside an inanimate object, but at the end the evil was inside a person therefore it could breakout. Cause look at Annabelle when shes in the Warren's room of cursed objects, shes in that glass case and can't escape cause the room has been blessed by a priest and locked.
I'm thinking if the evil has possession of an actual person no place can hold it.
As for the other 12 year gap at the end, maybe the evil was content cause it already had a soul and was fooling everyone parading around as a normal girl. We heard in the 1st Annabelle movie that she disappeared 2 years ago and joined a cult, and on the night the Annabelle doll arrives at the neighbors house she appears with her cultist friends to murder her parents. She then goes next door where the doll is and gets shot and her blood drips on the doll and at that point the evil has come back inside the doll.
ya I was wondering the same thing....The first 12 year gap was explained by the mother...But then at the end of the film there was another 12 year gap...It may be coincidence but to specifically have 2 12 year gaps where Evil occurs seems like it more of a pattern...
But who knows
