If you've watched Breaking Bad and The House of Cards (American version) it's almost impossible not to think about those shows while watching Ozark. This show is something akin to the 1970s version of Aerosmith: pretty good, put a couple new ideas on the table, but otherwise totally derivative of The Rolling Stones.
shareSo.....it's still a good show. I guess all sci-fi shows with Space Ships are the same as Bucks Rogers or Flash Gordon. It's all about the execution.
shareAnd some Aerosmith songs were great, as I said. But, I do think this show has been a little too derivative. There are a number of other things they could've done with the normal-parents-become-criminals theme. At least Marty hasn't completely degenerated into Heisenberg (yet), but Wendy's transformation is way too derivative of Claire Underwood for my tastes.
