Worth watching on the big screen? Or should I wait for the digital release?

Seems like the reception is divisive.

I watched it at home with my wife on digital, and while it was absolutely incredible (seriously, it blew us away), I'm kicking myself for not catching it in theaters. The cinematography is just breathtaking - there are these gothic scenes in Transylvania and plague sequences that would've been insane on the big screen. Plus, Bill Skarsgård's transformation into Orlok is so detailed, you can tell the makeup team put in serious work that would've been even more impressive in theater quality.

Like, don't get me wrong - it's still amazing at home, but those sweeping shots of the German landscape and the climactic sunrise scene? Man, those were definitely composed with the big screen in mind. If you still have the chance to catch it in theaters, I'd say go for it. But if not, don't worry too much - it's still a masterpiece that'll work its magic on your TV screen too.

I will say though, maybe it was for the best watching at home when that dinner scene came up - I practically crushed my wife's hand in terror, so at least I didn't embarrass myself in public! 😅

But you run the risk of getting Covid if you go to the theaters
